I am a calm laid back individual who is usually asleep. But when I'm not its hard to tell I'm not trying to be asleep. I play guitar/bass in my spare time. And listen to various genres of music. Predominately metal and rock.

damn man you got a pretty good deal on that, that's a nice fucking car

Thanks. I'm currently in the process of getting parts so I can get to work on it.

Yeah so didn't make Pico day, truck died 2 days before. Now I got no wheels. Not happy...

What happened to it?

Heater core completely rusted up, the radiator couldn't cool the engine and the heat gasket blew... then it got worse lol, as if missing the single thing I cared about all year...

How did the heater core rust up? O.o I've never heard of that happening.

What are you going to do about the truck?

New cars use red, orange, and blue antifreeze liquids, all of which are chemical specific and can't be mixed. I heard one combo basically turns the coolant into a slippery glue, others can create acid or other corroives.
._.
Tell him to pull the most likely head and see if the block's cracked, if it is, fuck it, the small V8 is apparently kinda expensive to replace, more than the standard V8's chevy makes. Also hoping he'll just cut and crimp the bad brake line, 3 should be enough, I can get a set of 4 new lines for about 120$ and do them myself (barely) with my cousins' tools... he did his earlier this year.

It's this fucking salt brine (seamonkeys) they spray on the roads in wintertime around here, loves eating chevy brake lines... the rust that really does not sleep. My Pop had to drive through that crap twice, and that's all it took.

Also not sure if the radiator/heater core was to blame, thogh it is bad... my brother really ran the piss out of it while he was here, and noticed some black runoff (oil?) caked on the side of the head after he left. And they (siblings) were using gas Pop and I never did, like from Costco/Walmart/Wawa.

They use red, orange, and blue antifreeze liquid? O.o

Well I hope your head isn't cracked. Then I can't imagine there is much you can do about that. I mean you could get it replaced but that's going to cost and arm and a leg.

They spray shit like that around here. It had a pretty nasty habit of eating away at paint and causing rust if you don't clean it off right off the bat.

Did you get the radiator or heater core checked out to see if that was a problem?

(Also sorry for taking like 4 days to respond. I've been both busy and also had nothing to do. Which makes no sense.)

My sister's car's transmission more or less went out and it no longer goes in reverse and we're working on financial shit and trying to see if we can take out a loan to pay off our house and a few other bills then use the rest to work on our house.

There must still be some new cars using old fashioned green...
Lol yeah, me neither. Gonna have to call the mechanic again tomorrow, see if he'll do what I'm asking.

Once that brine gets on there, short of powerwashing, it's there to stay, especially on Chevy brake line steel, no idea why... also Dodge brake lines too, wherever those lines are anchored, the seamonkey feast begins.

I'm going to assume the head gasket went of it's own accord, and the radiator system is... okayish

Sucks replacing FWD trannys, but doable, I've done it before. Question is, can you find a good used one... kinda leery about pre-pulled trannies, sand and shit, no idea if it was good or bad before the car was scrapped.

Yeah as far as I know all of our cars use green including my sister's Avenger. How'd the visit to the mechanic go?

Yeah we have a car wash like 100-200 ft from my house. So we clean it off there when we can. Unless it's too damn cold and we don't want our cars covered in ice.

As for my sister's car, she ended up just getting a new one. It's a maroon 2002 Buick Century. The one that's transmission went out in is a gold 2001 Century. She's gone through 5 cars in 2 years during her paper route. Which is crazy.

how's the 'stang broski

At the moment I haven't gotten much done to it. But I have gotten some parts for it and am looking to see if someone my sad knows can work on the fenders we got with it and the hood so we can get those sanded and primed then put onto the car. Then I just need another quarter panel then a little piece of sheet metal for a hole in the trunk area and the body work will be pretty much done.

My god, that's a beauty.

I know right? I'm planning to get as much done on it as I can this year and try to get the rest done by this time next year. Gonna get it painted blue *thumbs up*

Oh yeah. I dig it.

But like a lightish blue called "Acapulco Blue" if possible. If I can't get that I'm just going to try for like Sky Blue or something like that. The original color was "grabber yellow" but I'm not really a fan of yellow cars.

Sounds cute! My car is bright ass orange.

It's not supposed to be cute! D:
Aside from my Ranchero all of my cars are blue in one way or another.

Why can't it be cute? I like cute things. It can be a badass kind of cute.

Because I don't want it to be cute. I want it to be pretty ._.

In that case, it's gorgeous.

It is. Anyways. This is what it'd look like if I got it painted the color I want but with a chrome bumper and a front spoiler. http://media.collectorcarpricetracker.com/auction_data/2012/4/2/130672934914/2.jpg

Pick me up when it's painted.

Will do. If that's even physically possible.
