I am a calm laid back individual who is usually asleep. But when I'm not its hard to tell I'm not trying to be asleep. I play guitar/bass in my spare time. And listen to various genres of music. Predominately metal and rock.

Mah Birthday ._.

Posted by Viper - March 17th, 2014

Woo I'm offically 21 now. Yippie for me. I can technically drink legally now. But I don't really want to. Doesn't sound all that appealing to me to be honest.

Not much else to say I guess. My last post was up for nearly 4 months and not a whole lot happened from then til now. Other than I have a girlfriend now. We've been "going out" since like mid-February but we weren't officially going out til March 8th.

We went on a short birthday date thingy on Saturday because she lives like 2 hours away from here and can only come over on the weekends. We went bowling and ate lunch at Wendy's (haha). Then I came back home and she gave me a dozen Red Velvet cupcakes that she made for me. I still have like 3 left. And on Saturday I have a birthday party to go to for my Grandma. Who I happen to share my birthday with. Though the party is pretty much just for her. Though we were told that we can still bring a cake or whatever for me too.

(I can't see got my contacts out)

Oh....

Woah woooah, A Studebaker graveyard! That comment got me digging through a bunch of documentaryish video footage, articles about the 41 foot long wooden car they burned down, factory closing etc. It was a company with a lot of history it seems... man what a waste with all those scrapped prototypes... though stumbling upon a wreck in a forest is always pretty exiting. We have at least one unrecognizable rusty pick-up nearby. :)

True, and the added benefit of less rust... but not much else. I think metal frames were easier to fix too, when modern ones break they just break apart, they don't just dent.

Yeah there was a TON of history when it comes to Studebaker. They were around from 1852 til 1966. So they were around for over a century. And they also made electric cars from like 1902 til 1903. Then started making gasoline powered cars starting in 1904.
As for the graveyard. I wanna say they were able to get a couple cars out of there. If they did I don't know if they got them restored or not. Though that'd be pretty cool if they got em out and fixed them all up.

That and if you were to hit something while driving one it'd do a hell of a lot more damage than it would if it was an older car. I should know. I was driving my sister's Hyundai and it smacked into a tree and the entire right front fender was pretty much destroyed along with a bunch of other stuff.
I'm sure Steve remembers me talking about that.

There used to be a Studebaker graveyard a few miles away from me, but they sold out around the same time I joined up here..... though there a guy around the corner from me who has 2 cars, used to pass him on my way to work at the arcade.

I'm sure my dad would have a field day if there were a Studebaker Graveyard near here....

ALSO! I TOTALLY FORGOT TO TELL YOU!
My dad got a new car (well my sister bought it for him....)
It is a 1962 Studebaker GT Hawk. It's in primer at the moment but it runs good and needs some work done to the transmission and my dad is buying some body panels for it. Then after that we're going to be getting interior stuff for it and then hopefully we can get it all fixed up. He's thinking about getting it painted red.

Yeah, he asked Tom, dropped my name, and got invited |: I never thought for a blind second Tom would say yes to him. It must be wartime, because I'm making sacrifices......

Ah okay. Hmm.....Tom probably only said yes BECAUSE he mentioned you. But ya never know.

I'd try and use an OEM color, or as close as you can get. I still have a few original car paints (you know how some car balls get a hard on for original paint), but nothing for Studebaker.... hope the tranny can be fixed, sounds like a real long shot, unless it took a Ford, GM or Chrysler transmission

Well I've looked up paint stuff for it before. But apparently the dude who owned it before us got it from the original owner and they said it was originally Burgundy. But it's been painted Red sometime between then and now. And now it's got primer on it and red on the roof and trunk. So my dad is thinking about getting it painted either red or burgundy. Though I think it'd look cool being black with a red roof. Or maybe just red. Though if I were to get my Lark repainted the original color it'd be Riviera Blue.
As for the tranny. I think it just needs some Transmission Fluid and/or needs to be rebuilt. If not my dad and I know someone who has a TON of Studebaker parts and he may have either a new tranny or any parts we'd need for it.

Interesting. Yeah I read about the two cars they salvaged, one with an entirely wooden frame and one other one, more info (and pics) here: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2013/11/the-ghosts-of-the-studebaker-proving-grounds/

I was in a car when they backed up into a tree by accident, the whole bumper part (though it's not really even a bumber) sort of detached and was pretty difficult to put back in place. Not sure what brand but it was a modern model, they just aren't very reliable these things...

Oh hey. I wasn't aware they made a "Woody". That's pretty interesting. I've seen Ford and Chevy "Woodies" before though.

My sister has hit so many things in her Hyundai that sometimes I'm amazed it still runs....though the only visible damage on it at the moment is on the front fenders where they're all bent up around the wheel wells. And the bumper is broken a bit in places. That and it always lets out this screeching noise from the belts whenever she starts it up and doesn't go away til she's driven it for a minute or two. Shes gotten them replaced so she doesn't know why they're still doing that.

I confirmed the invite with Tom thru email... The truck seems low on oil, didn't used to burn that much, but it is 14 years old, and some heavy stuff got hauled very far last year :p

I'll be back to this terminal sometime Sunday. No clue what might happen before then, but least I got caeks

Ah okay.
So it's from 2000? What kind of truck is it?

Okay.

Oh, so they even have a name for em. I haven't seen any... in fact, I haven't seen any real pieces of wood used in any cars at all, just occasionally plastic supposed to emulate the material. Would be cool if they had some real wooden paneling indoors!

Haha, potential for some pun on woman and driving here... if that's the way it is it actually sounds like a pretty reliable car though...

Yeah. The name spans that whole style of car no matter what the make is. I've seen some but they're very VERY hard to come by. And are usually pretty expensive if you find one in pretty decent condition.

Yeah haha. I suppose it is. But she REALLY needs to get it fixed. Or get a back up car or something....

I think sirundead or the majormel laid this on me in paxilon's livestream a lil while ago.

The hell? Thats pretty crazy. I dunno if I'd travel that far to meet and drink with really any band.
...well that may not be true. I don't know.

I should've sent you something from NGHQ, comment wise, just because it's cool as fuck yo
Yeah GMC/Chevy 2nd smallest V8, made the trip well, low on oil though, didn't wanna add 20--50 to 5-30 |: Too much last minute shit, but only my tie was fucked up

Oh. Eh thats fine. How was all the Pico Day stuff anyways?
Well thats good (about it making the trip. not it being low on oil).
You were wearing a tie?

I was wearing a gold paisley tie, sloppily thrown on, but folks liked the suit, not bad for 300$ :p Luis looked sharp, Shad was beyond epic...

I've never seen a gold paisley tie o.O
I don't think I can imagine you wearing a suit to be honest. Not entirely sure why....

CD to the rescue! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjNwFgTOebM&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMP6ppS2Elc&feature=youtu.be
He's having some troubles wiht the last one, and is working to fix just now.
My pictures of the event will be out soon, zipped and on a new newspost, later in the week.

How ya been, my man?

Okay I guess. Got back on after being off since early afternoon on Friday.
Chelsea was at my house from Friday to Sunday (it's technically monday now but whatever).
I'm overall better health wise but I'm still coughing a lot ._.

Ugh, she gave you MERS? I think the first case happened in your state.. oh well, you'll either die or become sterile or both. Where do you think you picked the bug up? My throat was all puss-y after the party... not painful, might've gotten it from Mr. Ortiz and his killer boilermaker beer.

MERS? *does quick googling* Nah I've had this before. It's pretty much gone completely away now. It was more or less just the flu so it's all good.
Also the first case was in Indiana so its kinda close.

Yeah, aka camelpox, I was warned about that shit mutating and sweeping the globe :p
Oh well, whatever you had should make your immune system a bit wiser...

Yeah I suppose it should...anyways I'm all good now. Haven't coughed or done anything like that in well over a day and everyone else in my house is better too so it's all good. Chelsea got it from me while she was here last time. But shes better now too.

Also. I was on your latest post and for some reason when I download that zip with the pics from the party it wont let me view them or do anything with them. Don't know if it's just my computer or whats going on with that. Felt I should let you know.

ZJ said he couldn't even get the whole file... I'm going to have to split it up into 2/3 zips then.
If you have any trouble with them, let me know.

Yeah more than likely.....you're probably packing too many files into one thing. But I don't know if thats possible.
And I'll be sure to let you know.

Ugh, I hate using a computer for work.... I could've shot video like that other guy, who got Daily First. New camera, wasn't sure about space, though I got a mid range memory card, 16 GB, I think O_O

Yeah same here ._. Also I got a job (finally) workin at Starved Rock doing House Keeping. Though I was told that if anything opens up in any of the other positions I was looking for that I can ask to be transferred to whatever it is.
That would have been pretty interesting to see. But it's too late for that now....wonder if they'll have another party at wherever they're having the new office.

Moar like cabinkeeping lol.... Hey that's great! You get to keep tips, or they want the dough pooled?
I'm sure you'll do a good job... just wipe anything that looks like it got touched, check under the bed for monsters. Man, the hotel I was at for the party, was gross |: but Tom did save me some money and drove me there at 3am

Tom will rent a hall near Ft. Washington, which is near the PA turnpike and the hotels.

Nah I don't think we even get tips for that. But whatever. A jobs a job.
I wish Tom drove ME places at 3 in the morning ._.

Ah okay.

This has been a very good year for you dude, hope the new job and paycheck are to your liking!

Wow, it's really nice not having a blog up... so quiet, I can browse the site for content, and not get into typing hot air.. still gonna make a Pico post this coming Thursday with the best pics (so you don't have to DL a buncha zips).

Saw a shit-ton of Larks in an old ass TV show's pilot episode... Max Headroom!

Indeed it has been! Eh it'll take some getting used to.

Yeah I know right? Also I seriously need to find a time to catch up with you guys (you, nick, and damitrin) because I haven't been doing that like at all lately :/

As in Studebaker Larks? Or the actual bird? >.>

Figures... I finally start making Chat part of my NG BS sessions... poof |:

Yeah I know. It sucks I guess but since I didn't really go there at all it seemed like no big loss to me. Hell the BBS has been having a bit more activity because some people who JUST used the chat and not the BBS are now using it instead. Which is a good thing.
